One paragraph
Manourying is an art project built around a single instant. At the September equinox — the moment the whole planet shares equal day and night — everybody holding the app makes the same sound at the same time: four seconds of an open vowel at about 110 Hz, then their own name, then ten seconds of silence. Sixteen seconds in total. The app is invite-only, does almost nothing until the day, and sends exactly two notifications in the months beforehand. Then it happens, and it is over for six months.

Three things we will not let you print
Not because they are unflattering, but because they are false, and we would rather you heard it from us:
- That it will register on seismometers. It will not. A billion voices do not move a seismometer. Dense urban seismic networks do show human-activity signatures — well documented during the 2020 lockdowns — and that is a genuinely interesting story, but it is not the same claim.
- That it is perfectly simultaneous. Sound travels 343 m/s. Two people 340 metres apart cannot hear each other at the same instant; physics forbids it. The project treats that as the interesting part rather than pretending otherwise.
- That it is a protest, a religion, or a brand campaign. Nobody is asked to believe anything, oppose anything, join anything, or buy anything.
